Hello! This is my cat Lugosi (or mr. Lugosi, lil’ Bela, little bear, muppet, etc.). He’s almost two years old and I’ve had him for about a year. When I adopted him he was listed as a medium hair cat, but his coat has really grown in over the past year.

Is he a medium hair cat or a long hair? And how often should I groom him? He loves being brushed and gets brushed at least once a day, but I’m not sure if I’m overgrooming or undergrooming him, as I’ve had short hair cats most of my life. Should I also do anything special so that he gets less mats? I cut them out as soon as I find them and they’re always very small, but I’m wondering if I could do more. 😅

His fur is very muppet-y texture, hence why we call him muppet lol. I use a slicker brush but also own a rake, which he doesn’t seem to like as much. Also should I do something to help his coat for summer? I know their coats regulate their body temperature but I am a little worried since he’s a black cat.

I did do all of this research before and after I adopted him, but I also want to know what other cat owners think! Any advice would be very appreciated 🙂‍↕️💖
