I have an interview tomorrow for a role I genuinely want and am very qualified for, but I’m struggling to shake some skepticism. A small recruiting firm in my mid sized city is handling it, and they previously interviewed me for a different position that felt like an almost perfect fit—I had the experience, the background, and honestly thought I was one of the strongest candidates. Instead, they went in a completely different direction, which left me questioning whether they actually advocate for the best fit or just whatever angle they’ve decided on. Now I’m worried I’m walking into the same situation again and trying to figure out how to stay confident, interview well, and not let that previous experience get in my head. Also- do I pretend that we haven’t had hours of interviews and discussions of my qualifications previously? I’d assume so, but the recruiter today literally said “I remember working with you regarding the (previous posting) job.”
