i’m actually sitting here processing the weirdest call of my life. i start a standard phone screen today and before i can even get through my intro, the candidate goes: “Wait, can you tell me how my voice tone sounds? i really want to make sure i’m coming across right.”
i literally blinked at my desk. i’m not a vocal coach, i’m a recruiter?? i just wanted to know if you can use python. i had to spend the next 20 minutes trying to evaluate her resume while also being hyper-aware of her “cadence” because she was clearly waiting for a live review. at the end she thanked me for my “honesty” about her “interview vibe.” has the job market gotten so bad that people are asking for vocal feedback during the first five minutes? i’m exhausted
