    Protectionism is not really aligned with capitalism.

    If anything, this example shows that free trade between nations does indeed drive innovation, as China’s electric vehicle market has produced a lot of innovation.

      Capitalism is NOT free trade. Capitalism is the wedding of industrialization, nation-states and capital markets. In fact, protectionism is only possible under capitalism, it wouldn’t make any sense under any prior system like feudalism.

      That’s the point they want us to spend more money so they can grift us with “made in USA” parts (which actually come from china anyway but a legal loophole let’s them repackage it in the US, slap a sticker on it and triple the price.)
