I’m still waiting for someone to make glasses like this but with local AI you run in your phone
Meta states that its terms of service explain these details, and the glasses require explicit user permission to engage AI mode. Nonetheless, Sama employees reported that the glasses recorded banking information, private conversations, people naked in bathrooms, and intimate encounters.
I’m pretty sure the wall of text only lawyers read, but everyone just blindly accepts covers all of that and more. Meta has enough money to hire an army of lawyers to write a bulletproof TOS.
The audience for ray-bans isn’t exactly poor though, fingers crossed one of them is a notable lawyer with a bone to pick

Eh, the Ray-Ban frames for my prescription glasses were less than $100, well below many of the frames they had. Didn’t even notice the name until afterwards. I bought them for the price and the shape that complimented my face best.
But who would voluntarily attack a shark like Meta? You would need to be pretty sure it’s a case where Meta will just settle out of court. Or maybe a case where Meta has clearly screwed up and has no way to win? If that’s the case, they’ll just drag it out until the opponent runs out of money and gives up. Either way, seems a bit risky to me. I guess the EU could sue Meta and stand a chance.
True even if they went to court and won whatever the punishment would be probably wouldn’t hurt Meta
this is news? TIL spyware spies.
