This was added even when AI has not generated code - a major risk for companies where IP ownership is critical.
GitHub has also seen major outages, further eroding trust in their tools.
Hopefully this motivates companies to finally make the switch away from Microsoft.

I was almost tempted to say ‘lol, what a bunch of morons and jerks’… if that wasn’t potentially so nightmarishly dramatic.
Yeah, the whole losing your job is a bit dramatic.
But I think the frustrations are valid. It is an accumulation of multiple issues that, for a company of Microsoft’s size, should be unacceptable.
Yes this should be unacceptable… even though it won’t prevent it from happening (there are a few historical precedents where people decide that was too much, tech was too much, and decided to oppose it, not with much success).
But we’re accepting it which, to old me (obviously old enough to be completely out of touch with modern days reality, unable to understand younger generations priorities, and to be entirely and completely obsolete, did I forgot any?) is a lot sadder. It almost feels like we’ve given up on our citizenship in exchange for some entertainment and cheap emotions (oh, look the latest iPhone!)… and in exchange of constant anger (which happens to be another very cheap emotion) toward anything and anyone but the real issues that should anger us.
