People in the US don’t like to use 3rd party apps. So when iOS and Android “text” one another, they’re being sent as SMS.
“Messaging” apps like iMessage, Discord, WhatsApp, etc are all modern texting apps with lots of features and conveniences. Apple supporting RCS will finally bridge the gap between texting and messaging.
