I find this a weird place to start gaming. For someone who has so much money to spend on a non-upgradable 8GBRAM device there’s way better options. Even a Steam Deck (especially the OLED version) would be better tbh, but with so much money wasted on a laughable 8GBRAM mac, one can build a hell of a gaming PC…

Some people care about gaming and doing work / homework. Steam Deck is not a great option for them.

If money’s no object, obviously a steam deck for portable gaming, an M3 Max for productivity / engineering, and a gaming PC with 4090 is the way to go.

I’d argue that the steamdeck as a second device is the perfect option for those wanting to game and do work.

You don’t need to buy a new M3 mac in order to play games… especially when there are no (conventional style) games on that platform!

Just spend a little less on feeding the apple beast and get a device designed for the purpose.

Gaming is a tertiary activity on my computer. I’m interested in gaming on my Mac if it’s easy and readily available, don’t care if it isn’t. So if Apple makes it easier for me to game I’ll do it.

If gaming was my top priority on my computer I just wouldn’t own a Mac. So I agree if you’re a big gamer and that’s the main use for your computer, you’re better off building a gaming PC. But for people like me it isn’t weird at all and I hope Apple continues pushing M chips for gaming.
