I just bought the iPhone 15 and I want to know if the AppleCare service would be worth it, I previously had the iPhone 11 which I bought the same year it was launched I always took too much care of it finally it crashed after 3 years of use but it was because I had it without case, now in context I am very careful with phones and due to the type of work I always have to have it with a heavy-duty case and tempered glass, so would it be worth hiring the AppleCare service?
The devices are improving. I’ve had my 13 Pro for a little over 2 years. I have the original battery with 85 percent battery health. I keep it in a clear case and have a screen protector. I’ve dropped it apseveral times including on a brick floor. The device including the screen came out of it without any discernible damage.
If you buy it, you will keep the phone years and nothing will happen and you will feel you wasted the money…
If you don’t buy it, you will drop it tomorrow and smash…
If you put a case and screen protector on it, no.
I’ll break it down for you. Which AppleCare+ are we talking about? Loss and theft or regular AppleCare+? Is it 2year one or is it month to month indefinitely?
If you have a screen protector and a case and take good care of your phone then no it isn’t worth it. In your case even if you had applecare+ it would be money wasted since after 2 years AppleCare+ won’t do anything.
It’s simple math and up to you personally at the end of the day. AppleCare+ ($200) + ($100)deductible for phone replacement or ($30) for screen only. AppleCare theft & loss ($269) + ($150) deductible for lost phone.
Personally after the first year it’s not worth it cause if you’re paying a deductible might as well upgrade cause iPhone models come out every year.
PSA: You can buy the insurance and cancel it anytime if you don’t end up using it and you can get the refund of the unused portion/how many months of coverage you had left. You cannot cancel if you’ve already gotten your phone replaced by AppleCare+.
Can you afford to replace/the cost to fix it if something happened? You probably don’t need it.
If you are hard on your electronics, don’t have a back up, can’t afford a new phone/plan to keep it, etc? Then I’d recommend it. I sold or traded my previous phones, so I no longer have any back up phones and don’t want to shell out $900 for a new phone. Personally, buying AC theft and loss made sense to me.
I get downvoted every time I say this, but in the 16 years I’ve owned Apple devices, I have never paid for AppleCare, and I have never needed it. I have had numerous iPhones, pods iPads, and Apple watches, and I have never needed it for any single one of them. AppleCare is designed to make Apple more money.
You said that in 16 years you’ve owned numerous devices. What was the longest time you’ve had one?
