    Google AMP was the first step and glimpse on what google is trying to do. While German press agencies were belittled for demanding compensation for textsnippets google showed on the search results, they ultimately had the right idea.

      I was just thinking about how the whole SEO thing with them back in the day was fucking shit up even back then cos everything was just motivated by being optimized on google searches

    TL;DR: They are pushing Search more into the “here’s your processed answer” direction that “AI Overviews” have established (you know, those AI snippets in current Search that are wrong about 10% of the time). So they are mostly giving up on the paradigm of providing links to information.
