I predict another DC flop. DC movies haven’t quite captured the essence Marvel has. Marvel can produce flops too, but they rebound faster than anything DC produces.

        1. Trailers seem interested in selling me on a character more than a bunch of loud action set pieces and end-of-the-world stakes.
        2. Momoa may not have a lot of range, but he has a tonne of charisma and I always enjoy watching him.
        3. More Krypto.

That’s totally fair. I wish I had your optimism.

I never liked DC to begin with, but not liking the source material usually doesn’t stop me from enjoying a good movie. It’s just that I have zero faith in these Hollywood movie studios anymore. The very fact that it’s yet another superhero movie is enough for me to not watch it.

Sorry for the rant. I really hope you enjoy it though, and I mean that!

I get being burnt on superhero movies. I don’t think it’s terribly healthy how they’ve oversaturated the market. I’m just lucky that I can still enjoy the good ones despite that, and I counted Superman among those. But yeah, if a disinterest in Supergirl is just a specific case of a general disinterest in superhero movies that makes complete sense to me.

Yeah, that’s fair to say. I’d be concerned if he were the lead, but as some kind of reluctant sidekick I think he’ll be fun.

Jason Momoa? I wish DC and Marvel would stop casting the same actors over and over and over again.

I’m just kinda tired of seeing Jason Momoa doing Jason Momoa things, even as a “different” character.

I hope his Lobo will be restrained by Gunn to keep in-character, and not go off on some speech about road trips, family, and beer/axe-throwing. Like I want his Lobo to be a crude, crass killing machine who enjoys the violence, and not just “biker dad.”

Definitely. Plus, he’s actually a pretty funny dude so I think he can pull it off. We’ll see.

It’s frustrating, because lobo seems to be perfect for him. But holy shit, how many movies can a guy be in.

Isn’t Lobo supposed to be basically just a cameo, barely in the movie? I thought I read that somewhere. This seems to suggest he’s a core character.

I bet they did a game of thrones/star wars thing where they saw people like x character and now keeps shoehorning him in.

Mamoa is definitely miscast and overused. He wasn’t good for aquaman for sure. Lobo on the other hand. With Gunn guiding the characterization. This may have been a role that Momoa was born to play. Two times can be a coincidence. Three times is a pattern. If he pulls this off like he did The Suicide Squad and the last Superman movie. This could actually be good. It’s anything but a given however

I DGAF if they’ve fabbed up a Lobo meatbot just for the role. It’s still the backalley leavings after Meatloaf & Simmons Eiffel-towered a Harley, skeeted into a toxic juggalo shitbag. ☺️
