“Old” guy here who used to be a lot more involved/informed about technology years ago, but now well, not so much (First computer had an 8088 processor 😂). Read a few older posts online about this and a few articles on “best Wi-Fi 6 routers”. However, I’m looking for the guidance of those here if it’s worth it for me to upgrade right now. I have an Asus RT-AC88U with around 27 devices connected (the usual suspects: cell phones, security cameras, desktop, streaming devices, smart tv/xbox (hard wired), etc.). I’m pretty sure just a few phones are wifi 6 compatible. Since I’m guessing the biggest advantage comes from “6” compatible devices, is it worth it for me to upgrade? I have a Gigabit Internet plan. If there are security advantages that would be improved I’d be happy to upgrade. Otherwise, I’m fine waiting a bit longer.

Thank you to all for your advice.

I’d make sure the firmware is up to date and keep it around, assuming you’re good with it.
