My wife is a teacher and I want to get her a Mac. The M3 Pro is $1799 for black Friday, or I could get a 15" Air with 16GB of Ram for $1449. IDK if she will ever use IO of the pro, but I can’t decide. Any teachers on here or any recommendations for me to go.

Definitely get her the M3 Pro MacBook Pro, the extra I/O will help in the long run, it also has a way better screen and has better battery life and 2 fans. The M2 MacBook Air has a lot of issues and problems (including overheating problems) since it doesn’t have any fans, it’s also been extremely criticized too.

I’m using a base model MBA and I never notice any slow down with it. It sometimes uses swap though so definitely get the 16gb if that’s what you want

Air. My wife is a teacher and she’s on a M1 8/256 and has had zero issues.

Personally, if you’re in the states, I’d get a 16/512 of the Air or the 14” pro off of Apple’s Refurbished site.

I have purchased half a dozen items off of it and they’re better than new as they’re 15% off with the same warranty as new and qualify for Apple Care.

Do not get the 13 pro.

As a teacher with the Pro I will get an Air next time. Yes - ports and battery life are priority and I would take an extra inch of screen!

Teacher here, and the new MacBook Air M2 is plenty enough for me to do anything I could want.

For “ teachery” things she does not need the power. The future however brings local ( privacy) AI of all kinds which needs lots of power….
