At this point, everyone who’s not a billionaire, whether left- or right-wing, should support socialism.
Even if you want pure hard right social policies and laissez faire capitalism, the first thing we have to do is break the stranglehold the billionaires have on the government, and socialism is the only thing that stands a chance of doing that.
There is another, but the billionaires really shouldn’t be enthusiastic about it.
Even if you are rich, you should support social democracy, as a Swede, looking at the infrastructure, education, healthcare system, and especially the public transport of the US, is embarrasing.
You house the wealthiest individuals on the planet, yet you can’t even provide sidewalks for people to not be dependent on a machine to transport them.
A few years back, my local municipality was in the national news due to families moving out as the local school would not provide legally mandated special help for students needing it.
As someone who needed and got special help for many years while in school and now is an independent, productive member of society, I feel ashamed that while we house plenty of of very wealthy citizens, the municipality focus more on keeping the taxes low rather than having a school that you can feel proud of.
I’d gladly see an increase in taxes here, if that means that the students gets the same or better help than I got.
I don’t understand how rich people can just accept everything from roads, to schools, to healthcare being shit.
The rich feel unsafe, so they build shields and hire guards, they don’t invest in building better education, creating jobs, building affordable houses, things that would actually have an effect and lowering crime, making the entire area safer.
When taxes go up here, its always just more cops.
