Hi all,

I am stuck between getting a 5g router from three or getting my own 4g x20 deco router that i put an three unlimited data sim in. For context ive already got a mesh deco system that im going to be using so the thinking is that the 4g deco unit should work perfectly, but from what i read online, the 5g router from three has some issues being put into modem mode / bridge mode so some users couldnt get it working with their mesh wifi systems properly…

Can anyone help me decide?

For context I live right next to a 5g mast and get around 700mb down on 5g and around 200 - 300ish down on 4g and we are a family of 2, so we don’t need more than 100mb really… if i get the 4g deco unit for around £100 i will get the unlimited sim for around £10 a month or i can get 5g unlimited from three for £20 a month…

Thanks

I haven’t got much of an opinion about the choice but I do know that the Deco configuration app has a configuration option to put the mesh into AP mode (it is somewhere in the Advanced configuration). That means that if you can’t get the 5G router to act like a modem you can always leave it to act as a router and configure the Deco’s to provide the WiFi alone.
