I am an automatic updates on all my Apple devices, and tonight my AW SE got WatchOS10.

I am shocked and disappointed.

The most basic and used feature has disappeared, you cannot swipe between watchfaces anymore! Is this not the core feature of the Apple Watch? Configure yourself a bunch of watch faces, stylish or packed with information, whatever fits the situation, add complications freely, and then swipe between them with ease?!? This is the core functionality of my Apple Watch, the feature I use at least a dozen times per day. Poof, it is gone. Decide yourself for one Watchface, or go into the menus every time to change it.

Honestly, this change has moved me from thinking about what is going to be my next Apple Watch to thinking about which brand of smartwatch I want to try next. If I wanted a product where the manufacturer was making changes for change’s sake, I‘d use my Windows machine.

It has been a great improvement to my experience with the watch. Some people just can’t handle change even when it’s for the better.

There are some improvements in WatchOS 10 that you can see as better.

But where is the improvement in not being able to swipe between watchfaces anymore? How is taking something away without replacement an improvement? It’s not like the gesture has been replaced with some other great feature. Swipping left and right now simply does nothing at all. So please do explain me how it is for the better.

The new OS stops the user from inadvertently swiping to a new watch face. It now only requires a simple push to swipe.

Who suffered from inadvertently swiping to a new watch face? And even if that happens to you, you simply swipe back. It is also not push to swipe, but push, swipe, tap. Three interactions instead of one.

The battery life has been a bit all-over-the-place lately but other than that, I’ve greatly enjoyed the WatchOS 10 update. I actually hated the swipe-to-change-face thing because I often found i had accidentally changed my watch face with my sleeve or when I cross my arms etc.

If you really miss it though, the next update (I think out this week or next) will supposedly add the ability to swipe between faces without needing to long press first as an option.

Am I missing something here? I just tap and hold on watch face and swipe left/right to choose another watch face.

I don’t see what exactly is missing here.

So dramatic over something so minor that’s coming back in the next update.

Pressing the face for a second (you know, the way face switching worked for years) is now onerously described as “going into the menus”? Sheesh.

You’re late to the party with this post OP. Every day there is a post about how much people hate the new AW OS update.

If you want Apple to hear us, you need to be loud.

Honestly, I am considering calling customer support about this. I hear you cannot downgrade yourself, but in the Apple Store they can do it for you.

Apple has never cared about vox populi being proud of “we know what our customers want”.

in the Apple Store they can do it for you.

No, they cannot. Your only chance is to get a new watch and hope to still get it with WatchOS 9.

Hah sorry OP but no, they do not care and you being “loud” will only paint you as a loony tune.

Of course Apple cares about their customer satisfaction. Having satisfied return customers made them the most valuable company on the planet. In some cases they are stubborn for a number of years before reversing unpopular changes (like removing HDMI and SD from the Macbooks), but in the end customer satisfaction is the foundation of the company.

I hate OS10 with a passion! It’s confusing and the battery drain still hasn’t been resolved on my watch :( I have a 5

Okay bro so I agree and am avoiding WatchOS 10, but you listed one relatively weak reason. At least back yourself up more…

(And for those curious I’m not updating because I have an older watch and the bezels are so prominent on WatchOS 10)

What are the problems in your opinion? As I said, swiping between watchfaces is the feature I use many times per day. Other stuff might also be bad, but since I use it infrequently, I do not really care.

First of all: No duh. Second of all, yeah you should never update anything as soon as it comes out. That’s tech 101

Just press and hold the face, and choose by scrolling the crown, or use the watch app on iPhone 🤷🏽‍♂️
