My father in law has a home network which is an extention of the neighbours netwerk, (but has it’s own SSID and password etc). A LAN cable comes through the wall, and goes into his (2012) router.

Currently the network speed is hindered by the age/performances of the old router. The plan is to put down a mesh network, however I’m wondering if I can do this with 3 Zenwifi XD4’ or XD5’s. (Or would this only extend the neighbours network without me being able to set a new SSID on the MeSH-network). Alternative would be to get a TUF AX 3000/4200 (or another MeSH router if someone knows a better one) together with 2 XD4’s or XD5’s.

Edit: spelling

The Zenwifi devices would serve as your new router and you would set it up the same as you did with the old router.
