Hey guys,

Wanting to get your opinions on an Unraid build which will be for:

  • Streaming amongst friends and family. Several people at once.
  • Some VM work such as a personal VM I can remote into from work, and an Ubuntu VM for Linuxy things.
  • Save always on cameras around the house. Four of them.
  • Some light seeding.
  • Also server as data/photo backup.
  • Low power if possible!

Here’s the build: Part Picker List

  • Intel Core i5-12600K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor
  • Noctua NH-U12A 60.09 CFM CPU Cooler
  • ASRock H670M-ITX/ax Mini ITX LGA1700 Motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
  • Western Digital Red Pro 20 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
  • Western Digital Red Pro 20 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
  • Western Digital Blue SN580 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
  • Western Digital Blue SN580 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
  • Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX Tower Case
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G5 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Not so much worried about the storage, just seeing what you guys think about the rest of it.

Thank you for any input!

That CPU is 12th gen and shouldn’t have too much trouble transcoding but I would plan the build around being able to add GPU if necessary. So be careful with mini ITX. I’m not sure about your internet speed but 4K movies that are ~50gb each will need 30-50mbps upload speed per active stream to play without transcoding.
