    They’ve fallen a bit since the high in 2023, but the last time they were this high before COVID was early 2008. And he wants them to go up?

          The point is to slow inflation and higher rates decrease new car purchases, house purchases, investments, etc etc.

          It’s a blunt tool but that’s the eli5.
