honestly I really hate that term, I grew up playing what people now call “boomer shooters” I am an elder millennial/ xillennial so if they were being accurate they would call them xillennial shooter.

Boomers don’t even play video games for the most part.

But, beside all that crap they are called “shooters” or “First person shooters” or to use the popular vernacular of the day “Doom clones”. The “shooters” they make now days are more akin to stripped down RPG’s, there is nothing wrong with that sort of game in theory or practice but they aren’t shooters.
