It’s rare to see a Peanuts strip with depth perspective in the art.
You just made me look back at it again and realize that the coloring is wrong in the bottom left panel. That’s clearly a hedge, not a path. It should be green in front of him, not gray.
It kind of works. Having the same color green would be visually confusing.
Using that lighter color of green would be similarly confusing.
The grey as it is used looks identical to the path in the bottom right panel.
It’s only the shadow that identifies it as a hedge.
The original black and white is visually clearer in that regard.
