Man I know this is for shits and giggles and all, but I can’t not think about how alcohol is one of the most detrimental drugs in our society, and how many lives it ruins :( I wish the drinking laws were not this relaxed
Being responsible with drugs is important. But alcohol culture in america has a way worse rep than in Europe it is portrait as usual to get absolutely wasted when turning 21 or being on spring break etc. It is much tamer around here.
And having drinks with your friends can be a somewhat healthy thing when compared to sitting at home alone. Sure, skipping the booze might be healthier, but that’s not always the choice you make.

The united states, among western nations, is something of a teetoteler. Yes, people drink a lot to celebrate their right to drink legally - this is not unusual or surprising. But a single night of partying is unlikely to have significant negative health consequences. We don’t hold a candle to British pub culture, nor the Poles genetic superiority in metabolizing vodka. To the extent that the US has a reputation as a heavy drinking culture, I would mark that up to the dominance of American media rather than any factual comparison. And if you never got trashed when you were young and partying? Idk, maybe you’re just boring? All my euro friends seem to have a story about getting wasted and breaking into the old castle on the edge of town, or running from the cops on rooftops when their rave got busted up.
it’s not like European teens don’t celebrate their 16th and 18th birthdays with a lot of alcohol. Arguably that’s worse than getting wasted at 21, as the body is still developing.
I don’t wanna get into a discussion about alcohol in general because I also do like drugs, but it’s just weird that you can get shit faced at such a young age
