Many small businesses struggle to rank on Google Maps because of inconsistent business information, incorrect categories, weak service pages, and a lack of local relevance.

We reviewed the five most common Local SEO mistakes and included practical ways to correct them. I’m affiliated with the team that created this guide, but I’d also be interested in hearing what ranking issues other local businesses have experienced.

A very apt topic, because most local companies think that for maps it is enough to specify a work schedule and add a few photos. In fact, Google pays a lot of attention to how much your business is mentioned on other regional resources, so the involvement of off-page seo experts is critical for promotion. Authoritative external links and single contact details in all catalogues give a clear signal to the algorithms about the reliability of the company. Don’t make these five mistakes, and your location will quickly rise above the competitors!

Ranking on maps is basically distance, relevance and reviews. Other than keywords, all you can do is encourage and reply to reviews.
