Shocking decision. But love the absurdity/hilarity of the reaction to this decision by BT commentary team vs Sky and Gary Neville during the Newcastle Arsenal.

I’d never heard the word stooping used with such authoritive and nuanced technicality.

    Football is just gradually eroding.

It’s a low scoring game. One goal makes a massive difference and it’s just becoming so often that difference is nothing to do with skill, all to do with decisions.

I dunno why the football authorities want to make it that way.

The only way var can review this and believe theres anything in it shows this sports rigged. Impossible that 4 unbias professionals and ref believe this is a penalty. Ceferin and his buddy at P$G are laughing

I’ve thought for a while now that handballs in the box should be punished with indirect free kicks. Penalties for them are too harsh, and I think that’s most of the reason calls like this make people so angry. Some genuine handballs are also as accidental and unlucky as you like, and to have basically a free goal given for them is incredibly unjust. If we had that approach, I could easily see this being called with no uproar over it.

So, I may be entirely wrong here, but I thought it’s only considered a handball if intent can be reasonably presumed (or you’re doing something wildly stupid with your arms, the ball hits them and drastically changes direction etc)?

As I say, I could be totally wrong with that, but I don’t see how this would count as a handball if I’m not. Definite contact with the forearm, but zero chance of intent or even ability to expect it, really.

Games done and nothing we can do about it anymore

But I’m over seeing the constant VAR fuck ups, either use it properly or don’t use it at all.

Why even have a ref on the field if VAR are just going to overrule them or give wrong advice
