    Given Japanese copyright, intellectual property, and software walled gardens make American businesses look like an open paradise, this failure is probably for the better.

    Japanese companies HATE open standards and interoperability, and it was WAY worse in the 80s.

      This is why a lot of people in the US say shit like “we used to do things right back in the day”, but I promise you (given the above) that this was the right move for the wrong reasons; the USA just wanted all the money

    I can’t stand Japanese website design sensibilities. I can’t imagine what horror a whole OS would foist upon me.
