Hi there,
I’m imagining it would be super convenient to raise your wrist and add things to your to do list or grocery list.
Does anyone have an Apple Watch compatible app they recommend where you can raise your wrist and add things to your grocery list or to do lists?
Thanks in advance!
My wife and I are using the app “Buy me a pie” for many years and it syncs perfectly between iPhones and AWs. You can make different lists for different shops and the app categorizes automatically. New products are entered once and will be as suggested if entered again. Works super!!!
I’ve been using Things, but may switch to Reminders or Bring now, from what I see in the comments. Lol
Here’s something I do with my grocery reminder list. I put all my regular grocery stores on the list as a location-based reminder and then minimize them, so whenever I get to any of those grocery stores, the list automatically pops up.
And I just have to say to Siri “add potato chips to the walmart list”. You don’t have to say the entire list name.
Microsoft to do is pretty decent
A recent update to reminders will also sort by the section of the store.
I started using AnyList and I generally maintain my weekly grocery list in the webapp and it syncs to the phone and the watch. It is nice once set up, but kinda clunky on the fly. It does add to current list nicely, but that assumes you have a list set up. There is a $10/y sub.
I have not played with the Reminders app for grocery lists, but I believe it can now easily perform that task in spades with the lates update. Will probably try it when my sub for AnyList runs out. At least worth the look before paying for an app/sub. Especially since it is an included app anyway and works across all devices.
I like bring. And it works cross sync with android for sharing lists with my wife’s phone
The Things app
My wife and I are using “Buy me a pie” for years. Sync is perfect even on both watches and app has feature to make multiple lists for multiple stores and also categorizes all groceries.
My vote is for the native Reminders app, the updates in ios17 are awesome especially for grocery lists. If you set the list to hide completed items your watch will only show current items and as you check them off they are hidden.
- Apple Reminders for tasks and reminders.
- OurGroceries for shopping lists. Have been using it for many years now. And Reminders doesn’t scan barcodes.
I use a shopping list in the “OurGroceries” app which I sync with my wife; it has 3 killer features:
-
The ability to categorize the items and allow you to list the categories according to the layout of the store. Everything on the list is in order from when you enter the store to when you exit.
-
Auto-complete from previous entries while maintaining the category. So if you start to add “mi” it suggests “milk” and it shows up in the correct category.
-
The ability to store a photo with item. Sometimes I’m asked to buy something I’m not familiar with, or there are 10 variations of. A simple photo allows me to pick the right item without thinking about it.
It also has an Apple Watch app, so when I enter the store everything is in order, and I can check them off as I go through the store and not think about the full list, just pick the next item as they appear on the list.
-
Todoist.
Does Todoist auto categorize items as you add them?
Yes.
um, raise your wrist, say siri, and tell it to add stuff to reminders. not hard.
Where do you find your reminders at in the watch? Sorry if it’s a dumb question
The whole reminders app is on your iPhone. Go watch a video on how to use it. Only the lists from it are on the AW

um, why did you post this 4 times? isn’t once enough?
Oh yay Reddit mobile.
Even better: create a “Grocery” list and say “add x to grocery list.
Bring does it for me. Main reason for me why I use Bring instead of Apple Reminders is Alexa integration. Very convenient that I everyone in our household can easily add stuff to the list.
