The Challenge - From September 1 to 30, 2026, complete each one of the categories below with a unique post or comment:
- (Freebie) Make a shitpost.
- Make a post about something other than technology or politics or a shitpost.
- Make a post showcasing a thing or topic you find interesting.
- Make a post to a community with fewer than 100 subscribers.
- Make a post to a community in a small instance.
- Make a post featuring a human-made piece of art.
- Make an on-topic comment to a post in a small community.
- Make a comment or post sharing news about a location relevant to you.
- Make a high-quality long form text post or comment.
- Post or comment a link from another part of the Fediverse.
I came up with this to encourage a greater variety of posts and comments to niche communities, with the support from people who usually just comment occasionally and lurk.
Participants will evaluate their own progress. If you get a score of 10/10, you will win a virtual Lemmy Gold Star, and hopefully everybody will win a noticeably more active Threadiverse in the smaller communities!
Remember to be respectful and follow rules of the instances and communities you post to.
Feel free to share this with your own instance. I will try to post a mid-challenge follow-up in 3 weeks and a concluding ceremony in October in !fediverse@lemmy.world. Good luck!
- Make a post about something other than technology or politics or a shitpost.
This is so far out of my element, maybe too far!
Well, it’s kind of a broken line item. It’s the comment section on a post that usually has nothing to do with the post about technology, politics or shitpost.
Posting a cat pic? – CIA conspiracy. Recipe for deep dish pizza? – CIA conspiracy. Instructions on how to give the heimlich maneuver to a one legged goat? – You guessed it! CIA conspiracy.
I think this could be a fun one to pin to the instance, so that people can comment and discuss their submissions :) Thanks for putting this together!
An idea for the future: having a
bingo cardfor the graphic? Since people tend to click on posts that have thumbnails.edit: a stamp card makes a lot more sense, see below

Something like:

(made with a random website I found,
bingocardcreator.com)I was thinking of a sort of “bingo board” energy behind the idea, but since the win is making a line which is a little different of a goal. This challenge is a bit more like a stamp sheet, which I guess the bingo board format could suffice to represent. I’ll think about adding that URL.
Oh yea, a stamp sheet makes a lot more sense. I have a busy few days ahead, but maybe someone else can throw something together faster than I can. Tools like Draw.io or Excalidraw should make it relatively easy :)
I’ll get to posting in the meantime
We’re at 10, we need 16 for the next perfect square.
I suggest we expand the grid with the following 6 post types:
- Beans
- Moth
- Jeans
- Beans + Moth
- Beans + Jeans
- Moth + Jeans
Cool. I like it
This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great idea!
post this where
@blaze@lemmy.ca put together this list of ‘30 active communities which are not politics, news, memes or tech’: https://lemmy.ca/post/40160493
Otherwise you can also find communities that match your interests by checking https://lemmyverse.net/

The Threadiverse isn’t just Lemmy, so why is the prize a Lemmy Gold Star? Do you think a PieFed user, mbin user, or PyLova user will want that?
Uhhh, it’s what I have in my virtual drawer.
