I see people do this all day. What’s wrong with just using the phone like we’ve always used the phone? On your ear? Do they think it looks cool? Can’t be the sound because it definitely doesn’t sound better.
A some point in the last decade, humanity collectively decided that listening to their phone from the bottom speaker while holding it perpendicular to their ear was the most efficient and least ridiculous way to use it.
Even people who clearly grew up with home phones seem to have forgotten that phones have always had, and still have, an earpiece.
People will do anything to be a nuisance, if fines aren’t the solution then what would you propose?
To me this sounds like the right move, although fines should be proportional to income.
I would propose that the first time someone does it, they’re removed from the bus and forced to wait for the next one
The second time, they get a fine proportional to income
Third time, banned from that public transit mode for a few years at least

Doing nothing? These are not problems that require disciplinary action. Sometimes people will behave in ways we find somewhat annoying, this is just the reality of sharing a planet with 8 billion other people.

This is the kind of thing the US transit system should embrace. Public transportation would be a far more pleasant experience by not having to put up with obnoxious riders acting like they own the vehicle.
as long as they have designed time when people can actually use the bus as it was meant to be used (hauling furniture) sure, but that will never happen.
Rent a uhual, there like $30 bucks. If you destination is close enough by bus then you’ll get the maximum benefit of the truck.

Assuming the bus has already reached standing space only, somebody sitting on the floor is a nuisance to everybody else and taking up extra space.

I don’t think I’ve ever honestly played loud music on a bus. The idea of being bent outta shape if someone plays music in a public space is so strange to me.
