I have to keep pinching myself when I read about the guy known as “Bush’s Brain” and who W called “Turd Blossom” calling out the de facto leader of conservatives and the Republican Party.
It’s fucking wild.
I mean W, recognizing that “Turd Blossom” is a scheming little architect of dirty tricks, and Turd Blossom now getting bold enough to put this out into public.
Do I think he’s now turned some kind of corner? LOL, fuck no, he’s clearly agitated that donnie dumb-dumb is going to destroy the Republicans’ grip on our country.
Rove is a fascist strategist of the Lee Atwater School. The racism and cruelty are perfectly fine and usable as long as you don’t say it out loud.
Not to over pathologize here, but I think crafting the doublespeak is part of what they get off on. His is the generation that came up with bussing, and using abortion as a front for racism. Welfare Queens and Cop Killers and Superpredators. It’s vile, and the damage it’s done is a big part of what got us here, but there’s an ugly sort of art to that kind of perversion of language. Rove, Cheney, Gingrich, Norquist, and plenty of other horrible old fucks built empires on it.
Then along comes this mouth-breathing nepo-celebrity, crashing from racist tirade to sexual assault recap live on camera, taking over the entire party and just saying the shit out loud, on a megaphone, 24 hours a day.
I think to people like Rove, Trump just took the fun out of it.
I think you’re onto something there. The Rove type was tiptoeing around with the dog whistle shit, gleefully pretending not to know what he was really doing. This is the guy that put gay marriage bills into down-ballot races to help W, after all.
Then along comes donnie and he’s like a bull in the China shop, pretty much yelling, “you’re talking about the n[clang]ers and the q***rs and the broads here, right? Yeah, throw them in jail and I’ll grab the wimmenz by the pussy! Let me slap my name on some more shit, openly enrich myself, while I work on a golden ballroom…all while I start an even stupider war with a country starting with I in the Middle East.”
At least before, someone like Rove might be sort of tolerated at dinner parties etc., as an outed Republican. Someone like donnie running the party makes it very hard to maintain the peace between Republicans and normal Americans. People don’t want to be around Republicans now, in quite a few cases. People whisper to each other “you know he/she voted for Trump, don’t you?” and they are usually quietly struck from the invite…
You know you’re pure evil when even Karl Rove thinks you crossed the line.
