No trees were harmed in the making of this video (they were all felled in a big windstorm).

It’s an art installation, and they couldn’t take the wind because they were much longer and it was a big wind storm, so leverage was a big factor. They have the support of all of their surrounding logs now and, as such, a much lower center of gravity.

Nice. Looked like you wished you had a peavy (sp?) a few times.

I’m curious to see what happens with the joinery

I have no idea what a peavy is, but overall I didn’t feel like I was missing anything in terms of equipment. I wasn’t originally planning on using the telehandler but it did make hoisting the longest logs up and holding them in place a lot easier so I could secure them with rebar nails and long structural lag screws. There wasn’t much in terms of joinery except for where the logs sit over the door frame, otherwise everything was pretty straightforward.

Oh it’s a hand tool about the size of a shovel but it has a claw and a jaw and you use it to roll logs. The spelling is peavey

Oh! Those! I considered asking around to see if I could borrow one at the beginning of the project but then just ended up using some long sturdy boards to get leverage.
