Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

After resisting for years I’m finally starting to come around to the concept of podcasts. I have a relatively short walk to work and have started listening to a podcast by a psychologist to see if I can learn any techniques for combating some pretty insistent negative mental habits.

Day one and I’m starting the day in a much better frame of mind. The thought of celebrating with a cheese scone may have something to do with that though, lol.

Oh man I remember when I first tried podcasts because I would get sleepy driving back from work. Used to listen to Joe Rogan about 6 or so years ago, and then he started having certain guests come on…

I find “Stuff You Should Know” to be quite a good one for some interesting facts :)

No such thing as a fish is the first one I tried but I’m a completionist so have to do them all from the beginning. My queue is currently a mile long but I’ll add your recs to it, thanks

Podcasts are great! Also audio books.

I never got into cheese scones though. I don’t know why, just not my thing I think.

I’ve had the best cheese scone in Wellington (says my colleagues) and it was meh, so unless your mum’s cheese scones taste like cake or something then I probably still wouldn’t like them that much.

They are ok, but not my thing I think.

Finding amazon.com.au to be offering some of the best prices for many things at the moment, with free international shipping on spends over $50. I’m finding I can often purchase the same product for 1/2 or less than I can purchase locally. Happy to support local, but not when I’m being fleeced!?

As an example; I’m planning to make some cabinets and bookshelves and need hinges, wood glue etc… A large bottle of wood glue, purchased locally and delivered, will set me back $141 - on amazon.com.au I can get it delivered for ~$76. Even better for hinges, that I either had to buy in multiple small lots or huge lots (which I didn’t want) locally. Even the huge lots were more expensive!

Anyway, worth a look if you’re spending $ in these ‘tight’ times.

Wasn’t there a thing a while back about people ordering groceries from amazon.com.au having them shipped to NZ and it being cheaper than buying locally?

That was an absolutely excellent game, and great start to the tournament. Really looking forward to going to see Netherlands vs USA next week

A bit dreary and cold this morning, but the wee man in our house is on good form this morning after a good sleep and told his mum he loves her unprompted, something that she’s been pining for a bit and is starting to happen more regularly. Just had a cuppa and going to drop him at day care, maybe take the dogs for a short walk. The pup we rehomed on the weekend is settling in beautifully and getting on with the existing dog well but they didn’t get much excerise yesterday so need to stretch the legs today rain or shine. Ah well, you only get wet once right?

Looks like a great (maybe cold?) day where you are! Although, that field looks like it would take ages to mow with that mower. I guess there’s too many obstacles to mow it with a tractor.

Was a bit crisp, fresh though, nice. We have teams of guys including tractors, weed Wackers and everything in between… we’re here for the whole day today (Long Bay)
