“Superhero movies set the bar low, you’re just short enough to walk under it without ducking.”

Sounds just as silly, doesn’t it?

Superhero movies are actually pretty cool. You take something you wish you had or could do and make a character who has it or can do it. Dump some trauma on him and let him go hog wild on common criminals. A more depraved superhuman threatens him, he has to overcome the odds to fix the mess he basically made.

When done right, they can be a lot of fun. But how many movies does Marvel have in the MCU? Something like 35? And they started with Iron Man in 2008… 18 years ago? So they’re averaging 2 a year overall, but it’s a bit more than that as they were a couple years apart in the beginning. Marvel has gotten stale. Still, I watch them because they are fun.

Not sure if that picture says anything different. It’s not loading. I just see anime. I recognise Luffy from One Piece.

Genre fatigue is very real. Hollywood treats every fad as the next gold rush, and it has been destroying the movie experience ever since. There are some diamonds in the pile of coal, but it is still mostly just coal. Burns fast, has no staying power. Burn it all at once, and you lose the diamonds along with the pile.
