Apparently you children have never seen “Fly Away Home”, it was a fairly popular corny movie in the 90s. We had tons. This one featured not Jim Carrey from “Dumb & Dumber”. Sorry you didn’t get the memo.

No, this post is referring to Operation Migration. A real conservation effort, not a fictional movie. The movie was based on this operation. It’s unfortunate people didn’t realise it was based on true events.

Most everyone who saw this movie, saw it on a VHS tape played from a square tv rolled into the classroom after the substitute teacher explained how the following movie was based on a true story before playing that movie and turning off the lights.

    Fly Away Home (film, 1996)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly_Away_Home

Inspired by true events, Fly Away Home dramatizes the actual experiences of Bill Lishman who, in 1986, started training Canada geese to follow his ultralight aircraft, and succeeded in leading their migration in 1993 through his program “Operation Migration”. The film is also based on the experience of Dr. William J. L. Sladen, a British-born zoologist and adventurer, who aided Lishman with the migration.

So, clearly the plane runs out of fuel along the way. Do they have designated landing spots to refuel? Or does the pilot land at a regional airport? I suppose the birds would be okay landing at an airport, but do they then land at the airport every time during their migrations from then on? I’m guessing they might land somewhere more bird-friendly nearby, and gradually change the stopping points through the years.

Yeah there’s this one job, but…

    But what?

No, nothing. You wouldn’t like it.

    Come on, tell me!

How comfortable are you in animal’s clothing?

    …i’m in.

    …but - you - I haven’t…

Tell me where to go. Give me the deets.

I don’t even - can you …make loud sustained noises?

I think they dress as one every time they interact with the birds since they hatched. So, this was just a continuation of that.
