New lidar-related roles posted on LinkedIn in the last 24 hours. None name MicroVision, MOVIA or a specific lidar supplier, and MicroVision itself posted nothing new.
Strongest signals
- General Motors: Senior Advanced Optical Sensor Test & Development Engineer, Warren, MI (Oct 21). Joins GM’s “Advanced Optical Sensor Team (Camera and Lidar)” to test lidar that “will integrate into a targeted vehicle application.” Posted a day after GM said eyes-off driving is expanding to its full-size SUVs and pickups.
- Caterpillar, four roles around Mossville, IL:
- Senior Simulation and HIL Integration Engineer, with an “emphasis on LiDAR modeling.”
- Senior Perception Engineer, Irving, TX, for lidar, radar and camera fusion.
- Two contractor roles in Mossville: L&T System Engineer, which validates lidar “on construction equipment,” and Ace Technologies Embedded Systems Engineer, LiDAR/Radar. Neither names a client, but Mossville is Caterpillar’s tech center.
- CNH: Tech Lead, Perception, Agricultural Systems, Tempe, AZ (Oct 22). Camera, lidar, radar and thermal perception for farm machines.
Automotive
- Gatik: Senior Systems & Safety Engineer, Hardware. Functional safety for the trucks’ lidar, radar and cameras.
- General Motors: ADAS Design Release Engineer, Front Camera Module. Camera-focused, with lidar listed as a plus.
Industrial
- Zekelman Industries: Automation Engineer, AGV Systems. Lidar-guided vehicles inside a steel plant.
- Parallel Systems: Senior Robotics Software Engineer, Perception. Lidar and camera fusion on autonomous rail vehicles.
Security and defense
- Anduril: Principal Engineer, cUAS Lead, Omen. Picks ranging sensors (radar, lidar, laser rangefinders) for counter-drone systems.
- Saronic: Mechanical Engineer, Perception Hardware. Lidar, radar and cameras on autonomous boats.
- Textron: Autonomous Vehicle Engineer III. Defense ground autonomy with lidar and sensor fusion.
MVIS relevance (interpretation): GM is doing lidar work for a production vehicle, and off-road and defense demand is steady. These are the segments MicroVision targets with MOVIA, IRIS and HALO. Hiring is a signal, not a supplier award.
