Source: Amazon Takes on Another Industry: Robotics – Engineering.com (James Anderton, On the Floor video episode, Oct 21, 2026)
What the article says (facts only):
- Amazon is “addressing their considerable demand for robotics in-house with a new automation production facility.”
- The article calls Amazon an “early adopter of warehouse robotics.”
- It says Amazon has announced plans to invest in “a new advanced manufacturing facility in Greenwood Indiana.” (The text says “hundred million dollars” but the exact figure is garbled on the page, so I’m not quoting a number.)
- It frames the move as turning the company “into a major manufacturer of robots,” part of “a much larger expansion.”
- It describes Amazon’s “almost insatiable demand for advanced technology to handle a titanic logistics load.”
MVIS angle (my interpretation, not from the article):
The article doesn’t mention lidar, sensors, or MicroVision. It also doesn’t say what kind of robots the plant will build. But if one of the biggest robot users is now building its own robots at scale, warehouse and logistics automation is a real, growing market. Mobile robots and automated equipment usually need 3D perception to get around safely near people and objects. Lidar is one way to do that, alongside cameras and other sensors. MicroVision sells MOVIA / MOVIA S lidar and perception software to industrial and robotics customers. More robot building means more demand for parts like perception sensors. Whether MicroVision gets any of that business, with Amazon or anyone else, is unknown. Nothing here shows a link between Amazon and MicroVision.
Not advice.
