I love this. I hope the devs get the financial support they need. If not, I hope they take what they learned and make a clone like Dota did. HotS was the only bright spot in the last 16 years of AB horseshittery, imo.
From 2016-2020, Overwatch was the gold standard for video game community management and developer transparency. The fan community was on fire with artwork. And though it’s controversial now, the gameplay up until the release of Brigitte was balanced and fun.
Nah you’re right. I totally forgot how good OW1 was in terms of community. OW league was good to. Damn, they really fucked that up. I think I blocked out how good it was because of how poorly it turned out. We’ll see if Microsoft can turn it around.
And then Brigitte was released and I ran around curb stomping chumps while screaming mace to the face.
I miss those days before they murdered my girl.
Very cool to see. My friend group still mourns the death of HotS, especially considering you can still find a match any time of day in less than 20 seconds, so people are clearly still interested.
The optimist in me keeps thinking stuff like this will convince someone at Blizzard/Microsoft to revive the game, but that’s most likely a lost cause.
Would be neat to leverage all of the Microsoft/Activision IP and make a Heroes of the Storm 2 with Blizzard favorites plus Master Chief, Banjo, Crash Bandicoot, etc.
The Microsoft version of Smash Bros.
Oh my please
I often mix up Heroes of the Storm with Heart of the Swarm…
You must have the hots for both
It’s a great game. I don’t know why it wasn’t much bigger. Too late to the party, most likely
Too difficult
Compared to DOTA and LOL?
Yeah, lol especially is really easy to learn which is it’s greatest strength
1 map and every game is the same (lane>dragon>lane>aram>baron/dragon until the game ends)
HOTS has multiple maps and multiple metas so macro is going to take that much longer to learn
It’s features while superior imo weren’t friendly to the pro and wannabe pro style players. The differing maps meant certain characters were better or worse depending on map so you needed to be good with a lot more characters, that could be wildly different play styles. Leveling happens as a team, so you can’t stand out as better than others as easily. It also opens up more design options, because there can be characters with vastly different focuses, which makes it harderto call out bad players based on a scoreboard.
Vague objectives
Blizzard: breaks HotS legs, kicks it off cliff
Blizzard: “We had to leave it behind”.
