Even after he is retired, he can come back by rule if the season is tied after regulation and needs to go to extras.

    • Take care of the mess that streaming has become. Have MLB.tv take over from the local cable sports networks and get rid of stupid blackout rules: https://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2023/01/30/mlb-could-be-prime-to-go-direct-to-consumer-streaming-for-sinclair-owned-regional-sports-networks/

    • Figure out how to equalize the disparity between how much money teams spend. The Dodgers, Mets, and Yankees hoovering every big-name player out there is just making it worse every year.

    • Publish a free realtime API so third parties can build cool baseball apps. Right now it’s all locked behind expensive paywalls.

    • More moves in speeding up the game. The changes made already (despite all the grousing) is making watching the game more accessible to casual fans and new ones.

    • Nuke the current mobile app from space and start all over again. I just want to watch the condensed game I missed last night, or see the player stats for the current game. Is that too much to ask?

    • Lastly, and many will disagree… get sports-betting out of baseball. It can’t go well for fans long term and turns a nice pastime into something else entirely.

The Twins promising no blackouts all winter only to go right back to Sinclair, and their continued asinine demands of in-market blackouts and no in-market streaming (when they do stream their other sports products), because there’s no real existing competition in the Upper Midwest market was an absolute blow to their credibility and goodwill with the fans, especially when the owners are still cutting payroll to a lower level than any reasonable difference between this year’s and last year’s TV money. Just after we won our first playoff series in over 20 years last season.
