      Bro I got banned from reddit earlier for reporting something very serious and disturbing and they gave the person a temporary suspension but ban me for trying to make it a safer place. That whole website is fucked. That CEO is POS.

      Aaron Swartz is rolling in his grave right now for sure. Used to be an amazing place for free speech now it’s filled with worse people compared to 4chan and 8kuk

      I wish I knew about Lemmy sooner. I’m loving how relaxed and nice everyone seems here

        that’s like walking into a nazi concentration camp and saying, “hey, guys, ya know, this place is not nice!”

        that’s the point. reddit has gone full ex-birdsite. they only care about “engagement” now and don’t care what dregs of the internet they get it from.

          Exactly and it’s pretty damn sad to be honest. I’m really enjoying this app though and can’t wait to start making my own communities. I’ve been moderating and administrating websites and forums for a long time I love doing it.

            Jun 1 was my last day on reddit (except a couple of days of account cleanup and deletion), and I’ve been here ever since. it reminds me of reddit in its early days, and I couldn’t be happier!

              Thanks for the warm welcome! I’m definitely here to stay. I hope we get to make our own communities soon. I love the official app they have also it’s pretty customizable

                this instance used to allow you to create communities, but they got a bit overwhelmed, so they disabled it, but you can create an account on another instance like lemmy.world or lemmy.ee and create an community if you like.

                also, there’s no official app. there’s several to choose from depending on if you’re using iOS or Android. I’m currently switching back and forth between Memmy and Mlem on iOS myself. but there are others, and none of them is “official”. they’re all community-made!

        The reddit troll who got me banned unknowingly did me a huge favor. I don’t miss that cesspool one bit. I didn’t realize just how toxic it had gotten until I started posting here. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me.
