Weight matters for sure, but he’s trying to take away the argument of “my F-150 weighs the same as that Tesla Model Y, so screw you liberal” by focussing on the fact that grill height has a way bigger impact than weight does.
Also F9 is a (very very good) motorcycle and mountain bike channel, so don’t expect them to be the most thorough video on trucks. But I’m glad he made the video because a lot of dirt and adventure bike riders have big ass trucks to haul them around
@DarKnight0 @Tak
Yep.
This video for more broad perspective.

Frankly, I don’t see why the video doesn’t talk about trans rights, the war in Gaza, and the latest Bachelorette either.
Not every video has to cover everything

A bit, but also your point about gross weight for trucks is way off reality. They are largely used as commuter or family vehicles, and rarely if ever loaded to capacity.
The only time these trucks make sense is when they’re being used to haul 1/2+ tons of cargo or to tow 5000+pounds of trailer. That’s going to take a big heavy vehicle, but also requires care and responsibility when operating (and actually does require licensing over 26,000lbs gross combined or 10,000lb towed weight, having towed close to that amount, I think that should be lower BTW).
But all that aside the point that the video is making about simply requiring lower grille heights to save lives is a good one, even if we should also drastically reduce the number of these trucks on the road for all the other reasons.

I’m off the opinion that they should be heavily (no pun) taxed by weight, and insurance should accordingly go way up for covering the other people they endanger.
But it seems that morons are already willing to be broke to drive these things with how inefficient they already are.
Drivers licenses shouldn’t cover everything from a smart car to an RV.
Don’t worry, the smart car company solved this. They discontinued the city car and replaced it with a 2 ton SUV /s
I love Fortnine and their videos, but he missed a glaring issue: big ass vehicles are difficult to manoeuvre in cities (i.e. near pedestrians).
And while he did very briefly touch on the fact that a sloped front end could help you see more in front of you, you still wouldn’t be able to see beside or behind you very well.
I mean, FFS, he was standing next to the thing and his head was just barely above the bottom of the window! Anyone 5.5’ or shorter would be unseen by the driver if they were standing right beside it!
