You should thank them. They just demonstrated clearly they have absolutely zero intent of engaging in good faith discussion of the topic at hand. That’s a precious rare thing, because the aim of these people is always to keep you locked in pointless circular bickerbabble for as long as possible to drain as much time and energy as possible out of you.

I don’t feel like I’m in a good position to comment on the discrepancies between the cognitive functions or “information metabolism elements” as they’re referred to in socionics and the original Jungian functions since I’m really only quite familiar with the former. Socionics has 8 IM elements, like MBTI has 8 cognitive functions (though they differ somewhat in definition between the models).

If I’ve understood what little I know about Jung’s original view correctly, he mostly thinks in terms of just 4 functions, namely thinking, feeling, intuition and sensing. Does that seem correct to you?
