Technology@lemmy.world•CEO of Palantir Says AI Means You’ll Have to Work With Your Hands Like a PeasantEnglish
9·16 hours agoWhatever bad shit I want to say about Henry Ford, at least he understood the basic idea that people could only spend the amount of money that they have or make. That’s one of the things he’s famous for is that his factory workers could buy their own Model Ts.
We now live in a stupid reality where the world is controlled by rich people who see others as slaves and who are wanting to keep slave labor in perpetuity, even when the labor doesn’t need to exist.

261·16 hours agoAssume for a moment that AI really was taking all of these types of jobs, which by the way, almost certainly includes CEOs. It would only be a matter of time before robots take those other jobs he’s talking about.
A normal human of normal intelligence would see that and conclude that people simply wouldn’t have to work anymore. And that therefore, everyone should have their basic necessities taken care of by their governments.
People would be free to do whatever they want, whether it be “humanities” work or creating things or whatever. We’re no longer constrained by the fact that our lives depend on our usefulness in jobs to the ruling class.
Only a member of that ruling class would see themselves as indispensable and others as slave labor.

13·17 hours agoFirst, it was a joke in response to a joke. That much should be obvious to anyone. So it has the accuracy inherent in a joke.
And second, since it was about large numbers of people, it was obviously a claim about the vast majorities and not a statement indicating, for example, that there were zero exceptions.
The offense is more in the responses than in the original comment. The comment first got many upvotes because it’s obviously a joke. But then some people with poor reading comprehension invented offense and responded like it was obvious, then everyone started acting like chickens with their heads cut off. The people who could read and think for themselves didn’t respond because it’s obviously just a stupid joke.

118·1 day agoI never said it was.
“My son is an uninformed misogynist and has no chance to give me grandchildren. All that time raising him, wasted on a brainless loser. And now, he definitely knows a woman who supports abortion but hasn’t had one.” - That guy’s mom after reading his post, probably.

Memes of Production@quokk.au•as you get older you'll become more conservativeEnglish
14·1 day agoI suspect it’s even simpler than that. If you simply assume that people don’t change at all once they grow up, everything can be explained.
People are generally more selfish than we think and people lie more to fit in than we think.
Selfish people like social programs when they are young and might theoretically need help, but don’t care about taxes because they earn little.
And they dislike taxes when they are old and have salaries and resources, but don’t care about social programs because they don’t qualify.
They don’t care about politics or political parties because they really only care about themselves. They never really cared.
Others pretend to be left leaning to match their peers when they’re young and right leaning to match when they’re older. They don’t care about politics as much as fitting in.
lame-ass party
Since the time traveler would be from the future, he’d have already known that nobody went to the party.

18·1 day agoYes, of course. You cannot be serious. One, he’s the only male victim that I’ve heard of, and I’ve only just heard of him. Every news source talks about victims as girls or “young women.” So, every news source, even to this very day also implies that that class doesn’t exist.
When I tried to search for his story, I had to use more than one search engine to find anything. DuckDuckGo literally had zero results for “Trump ‘tent stake’”. I had to go to google.
I’m glad that you’re out there letting people know about this guy, but you know that his class is a small minority and almost unknown to the mainstream.

110·1 day agoThe context was that I was accused of “unnecessary sexism” for my earlier comment and you’re arguing against me.
If you don’t want to argue that I was being unnecessarily sexist, and you just want to nitpick minor points, then it would help if you’d make that clear.

19·1 day agoWell, that’s horrific. I just listened to a bit of his testimony, or whatever you want to call it, and now I feel bad about making that exact point.
But are you really trying to assert that statistically, the people partying with Epstein in order to abuse children are not overwhelmingly male, and that the victims are not overwhelmingly girls? Because I’ve heard quite a bit of testimony and it is about rich men abusing young girls.

123·1 day agoJust gonna gloss over Ghislaine are we?
Whoops. I forgot that Ghislaine Maxwell was “half of global high society.” Well, it’s either that, or you forgot what the fucking topic was, but what are the odds of that?

218·1 day agoThey said “half of global high society,” so we’re talking about statistics, not whether a few women went there.
So, you could try to accept reality, or you could live in a fantasy world where the vast majority of the powerful elite going to Epstein’s Island for illicit purposes weren’t men. Epstein’s victims were girls. Have you even heard of a boy being trafficked by him? Most people are cis-gender. History is packed full of men seeking power over girls and young women, but now we are going to choose to be blind to reality in favor of political correctness?
Jesus Christ. Just a few days ago I posted here that I was disappointed in everybody in the world, but at the time, I thought it was a joke.

48·1 day agoSeinfeld had an episode about cell phones, though.
I don’t remember the exact plot, but I think it was Elaine called somebody about something serious, like expressing condolences for a death or something, and she called from a cell phone while she was out and about, instead of calling from a land line at home. This was seen as a faux pas.
The only way that anybody has gotten rich is by taking undeserved money from other people. There is no way to work hard enough in one lifetime to earn a billion dollars.
Even if you win the lottery, for example, that wouldn’t work without all of those gambling addicts losing their money to you.

10·2 days agoUhh… some of those people in the left side do some things to harm children as a matter of course, so it’s weird to put them in this picture at all. You could just leave it out.
Like, the Hasidic Jews practice circumcision, which is simply genital mutilation of infants. And some Jewish ceremonies involve using the adult’s mouth on the infant’s genitals during circumcision, which has caused some deaths from giving infants herpes.
I wouldn’t label any religion as being safe for children. Even if they’re physically safe, there is some mental harm from teaching them lies.

Maybe people use it to covertly spike other people’s food? These can affect people outside of the target audience.
