Game Deals@lemmy.zip•Steam Deal: Save 67% on Pacific Drive $9.89English
4·7 days agoAbsolutely recommend this game. It’s technically a twist on the crafting genre? Honestly stands out on its own and I would pay full price for it again if the chance arose. Great story, great mechanics, and literally fully customizable difficulty. Like if for some reason you find the game too difficult you can make adjustments to pretty much anything in the game. From my perspective though playing through on the difficulty they recommend it was challenging yet rewarding. On top of that the DLC they recently released is like its own entire branch off that gives you a whole separate class of car mechanics and game mechanics, seriously wild. Go into it blind if you can but at least watch the trailer on Steam first. It’s like a driving sim + crafting cranked to 10. Idk how else to describe it.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Steam Controller review leaks, but price of Steam Machine accessory may disappointEnglish
1006·12 days ago$99 isn’t bad at all when you compare what you can do with it to any ‘pro gamer’ controller out there. It has massive programmable potential comparatively to a normal Xbox controller. Pro controllers usually run $150 and up. Yes this is pricier than a shit ass China controller but you’re also getting a massive amount of flexibility with it.

Automation and Factory Builder Games@lemmy.zip•Shapez 2 leaves the factory floor today as it launches into 1.0English
2·13 days agoThis game and the first are both amazing. Definitely recommend if you’re a fan of factory games at all. It dials up complexity pretty gradually, but not in a sense like Factorio. Anyway, yeah, it’s a no brainer.
You make a valid point on filling the space, my example being the types of games that are mainstream. Haven’t played an FPS in probably 5 or more years for similar reasons to what you stated, and feel like that’s all that’s churned out now. Just copy pasted ultra competitive stale shit with no real creativity. I tend to stick to indie for this reason now and will play co-op with friends, but even there there’s holes of competitive garbage to fall into. Anyway, appreciate the insight.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Rally Point: Genre-crushing choose-your-own strategy Heart of the Machine might be peak ArcenEnglish
2·14 days agoI started this game recently and I have no idea what the hell I’m doing. Like…I can’t tell if being overwhelmed is the point but Jesus it’s a fucking lot right out the gate. I feel like they did a great job introducing the systems but then they just drop you on your ass? Like I have a robot limit. Okay, how do I increase that limit? ‘You can play the game how you want! You don’t have to be combat centric’ Game then proceeds to IMMEDIATELY attack one of my buildings. ‘Objective: capture a cargo drone’ doesn’t tell you what the fuck you can do with it. I’m venting for the most part and fully intend to keep at it but God damn I’m floundering.
Honestly plucking it might be a little painful, but I’d imagine immensely more safe than having a pair of blades close to your eye to try and trim it…

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Building PC for first time - Need helpEnglish
2·19 days agoI guess it depends on what you use your computer for. If you’re only doing web browser related surfing and gaming, not a lot of need for it. If you have delicate files that aren’t replaceable and aren’t backed up already via a cloud service, sure, definitely a good idea to setup a RAID. Have a full blown media server? Yeah, you’d want a RAID. My thing is recommending a RAID to someone that is literally building their first computer is elitist and not being considerate of the person’s skill level or understanding of PCs.

Movies@lemmy.world•Movies that you feel have really unforgivably dumb names?English
3·20 days agoWait…this movie? https://m.imdb.com/title/tt18382850/ Or is there some other movie of a similar title? I always assumed the title was imagery of some sort meaning they are stuck in their current situation or feel helpless or defenseless?
This is what got me. I started a really well paying job so me and the wife decided to splurge on some better, name brand appliances. I’ve replaced every single one in less than 5 years. Fuck GE, fuck LG, and definitely fuck Samsung.
This is my stance as well. There’s data out the ass about how detrimental screen time and social media is for minors. Besides the obvious blame here being on the parents, it’s easy to just have something for verification without holding personal data.

Movies@lemmy.world•I'm sick of directors/editors using jump scares in non-horror moviesEnglish
2·1 month agoIf that’s in the movie (the gas flask) it must be a deleted scene or something because I’ve never seen anything like that. So Things can identify themselves and if in the correct conditions will combine to form a larger creature. Especially the conditions on the end of the movie where survival and not freezing to death are the main concerns. Another established fact in the movie is if there is one Thing and one human it will attack / consume / clone that person. Anyway, def seen it a few times, haha. You should give it a rewatch.
What’s really depressing is that things like this will always be just a dream, meanwhile billionaires will never appreciate something like this or do it for the reasons we would.

Movies@lemmy.world•I'm sick of directors/editors using jump scares in non-horror moviesEnglish
2·1 month agoHonestly part of the fun of the movie. Specifically for the ending though, by what they show, you can assume that neither of them are based on the fact they are the only 2 left. If they both were, then there would be no reason to remain disguised. If one of them was, they could simply kill the other as there’s no benefit to remaining disguised. That aside, tracking who is a Thing and who isn’t is not simple at all.

From a show called Trailer Park Boys. Canadian comedy that starts off rough but is pretty solid throughout.
