I know they just approved micro nuclear for data centers as well - you know, so they can “self sustain”.

2·5 days agoYou’re absolutely right they should eliminate that ridiculous provision! Absolutely bonkers.
I don’t know the math and I don’t see it listed in the article, but would that alone right the ship?
Whatever can be done to salvage the service - it’s a true public good. It’s like the Internet before it got mostly enshittified.

21·5 days agoRaise the rate.
The only reason this is challenging is because they are making it that way intentionally so they can offer the USPS as a sacrifice to the false gods of the free market.

news@lemmings.world•‘You feel like a dog’: Trump administration DACA delays are causing immigrants to lose work and risk getting deportedEnglish
2·8 days ago“We have 89,000 DACA recipients who contribute $6 billion in spending power and pay $1.3 billion in taxes,” Juan Carlos Cerda, a DACA recipient and Texas director at the American Business Immigration Coalition, told CBS Texas. “Most of them would probably have to leave the state if they weren’t able to renew their work authorization.”
No work eligibility, no in-state tuition rates for students, no ACA coverage, and we’re just starting to see the cracks in the system.
They’re basically on standby until they go to an appointment for document review and summarily deported. I hope all the retirees that voted for this enjoy the holes in the workforce and tax base they created. And that’s just a scratch compared to the human crises being created in the wake of these policies.

That is the appeal of the fediverse to me - a decentralized Internet that isn’t solely commercial.
