You could have a male responsible for the majority of the offspring if they are mostly sterile. That would imply a hive structure. In that case you would expect the gerudo to have colonies in other regions if they exchange the males. Since we don’t have data on other populations we can’t be sure what the greater trial structure is.

What this implies about grudo gender is, I think, pretty intresting. So it is likely that grudo as a population are a partial hybrid of other prior populations. Maybe the ungulant goat type people we don’t see any more.

The presentation would imply there is a severe dominant X linked genetic anomality that prevents XY offspring from being compatable with life. So that means that they need the seccond X chromosome to balance out the deficiency. Maybe it is an autoimmune factor from their partial hybrid incompatibility. In XX persons we know of here outside of hyliea the overlap between the two X chromosomes seems to increase their risk for autoimmune disorders as the resultant proteins can compete for space on immune calibration cells.

The implacation then is that the Male Gerudo are likely XXY or maybe XXXY given the infrequentcyof their viability. Or it could be XX but it requires a specific non germ line developmental mutation that blocks the androgen incompatibility factors. Or partially blocks it leading to unstable Y chromosomes. Thus giving an explination as to why that presentation is nonherritable. It might also contribute to something like increased aggression, a behavior noted in Phenotypically male gerudo.
