So, this is the place where I’m going to be generally hanging out and trolling around, while my Pixelfed, Mastodon, and Blacksky accounts are going to be primarily art posting accounts, and I also have a Nooki account.

I’m also going to start to be active more on here than on lemmy.org, so I’m making this my primary Lemmy account now.

I’ll link the other socials I’m varying levels of active on below, plus my lemmy.org account which I’m demoting to my secondary account if that instance is going to be more unstable from now on.

  • Well, I was pretty big into Magic School Bus for a while when I was still of the age to be watching that sorta thing, as in I had some VHS tapes of that show, and tbh its animation still holds up really well 30+ years on (RIP Nelvana unless things change for the better for them; they’re pretty much a licensing company now for the time being), and oh, for davidgro, this was another PBS show that had a banger theme song, made by the late Little Richard, and I remember liking Clifford and Arthur well enough too.

Rugrats was also one of my earliest memories in this regard and I liked it a lot too, and it’s also really cute looking back onto it as well.

  • You can both host your own ATproto PDS and even sign up for or migrate to third parties like Blacksky; for now. I won’t be surprised if Bsky corporate started getting hostile to that and closed-sourcing ATproto and both paywalling self-hosted PDSes and C&Ding third parties like the aforementioned Blacksky at some point though.

ActivityPub at least doesn’t have that problem, and also, unless you can interface with Blacksky’s infrastructure, self-hosted PDSes still have to deal with Bsky corporate’s centralized infrastructure on some level at least for moderation, where if you self-host an ActivityPub instance, assuming this is on hardware you physically own and control, you own the whole thing.

  • Tile mosaics would be really fun (I never even made a stepping stone in grade school), but it’s way too messy between mixing up cement and pouring it out into molds of some type in order to stick the tiles into, let alone smashing up a bunch of big tiles into shards to use for such a project, to be feasible atm, ditto for anything dealing with plaster.

Paper mache, a medium I haven’t messed with since middle school, would also be really fun to pick up again some day, but just like plaster and tile mosaics/stepping stones, it’s also too messy to be feasible right now; not only will you have paste dripping everywhere due to the nature of paper mache as a medium, but you’re also going to at least be up to your wrists in it, possibly up to your elbows depending on how big you’re going or even having it drip all over you if you’re making something big enough for people to play in, eg. like a big dome for people to draw on both inside and out, but you’re also basically playing in slime all day with that project which is why it’s as fun as it is.
