  • Post production takes so fucking long nowadays that they prolly start with promo material like this.

    Can never advertise too much.

I’ve also noticed how shoes which are coming back in like 6-12 months start getting spammed when I browse YT shorts. Like a week ago it was pushing 3body problem hard because S2 coming out next year. Also same with upcoming movies, spams interview and “DID YOU KNOW THAT” then some speculation and possible spoilers or whatnot.

I remember when Matrix 2 came out and everyone was basically surprised like “wtf they’re making more of these”. Granted it wasn’t the greatest but still.

  • I think it’s sync, sometimes it just doesn’t refresh the feed that I’ve loaded a couple hours ago as I’ve just browsed the same feed without having refreshed it. No need with how slow lemmy is.

Alright yeah, seems they do. Nice observation.

But yeah not as prominent as ones in the picture.

    Thanks the pics

  • Pff fkin Lemmy didn’t load the update for me or smth.

I loaded into the post just a few minutes ago on Sync on Android, and while this comment of you saying you’ve edited the title is 4 hours old and now the title reads as the fixed one, from my explore/all feed it was still the snowy owl.

    So I wrote

While the photo is gorgeous, I’m pretty certain that’s not a snowy owl?

    1. Snowy owls are white, and despite the low light, I think this one is brownish

    2. Snowy owls have a round head, no ears, whereas this one seems to have quite prominent ones.

Leading me to believe it’s more like an American horned owl, or even an eagle-owl, but not really, as the ears aren’t that prominent and it doesn’t seem that big overall.

  • I’m a pirate and have been pretty much always, but I also realise that if literally everyone pirates, then where’s the funding for these things gonna come from?

Because when streaming began, it sort of deflated the DVD-market, and a lot of smaller but not exactly small projects have complained this. Because it’s made the investment riskier, but also more profitable. So now all we get is reruns and remakes and huge new shows for one season which then get cancelled.

I think public funding would be rhe answer, honestly. BBC studios are expanding, and I think that’s actually pretty smart of the UK. Hell, I’d donate some money to the BBC now for all the great shit I’ve watched for free over the years from YouTube. Peep Show, Quite Interesting, etc etc. And aI love Doctor Who, so it’s great Disney dropped them, BBC will want it back.

If there was like a straight up donation page for every movie / show etc and you knew the donation would count towards “ticketsales” but it was completely voluntary… idk. Something I’ve dreamt of.

So that the creative choices wouldn’t be in the hands of studio executives who don’t give a fuck about the art they’re making, just profits.

For instance Stargate has the fandom, people want it back, the creators want to bring it back, a lot of the old cast would be willing, it’s just the studios which are kinda the problem. Apparently they almost got into pre-production, had a script even, but then something something SAG-strike or covid or both.

  • Juu väkeväähän se oli.

It’s almost the same word in Finnish, “väkevä” which does mean “mighty”, “strong”, but literally it’s basically “full of (little) folk”, although idk if Estonian also uses “väki” in the same way but it’s the etymology of vägev anyhow. As in “the little folk” or “fairy folk” sort of, as anything magical or powerful would’ve been said to be so. Not that anyone’s really believed in any sort of fairyfolk for a long time, but just thought it might be interesting, perhaps especially so for a fellow finnic person (and/or I’m just somewhat interested if this all works in Estonian as well or if you’ve read about it idk)

In Finnish folklore, Väki is the life force that flows in every single living creature and being. It is similar to the concept of mana in Hinduism, life force chi in Chinese culture or the Force in Star Wars. Väki literally means a group. It describes the power / group or spirits that reside in a certain idea/concept/element or being.

Oh yeah I don’t buy the cheapest stuff anymore either. Actually bought fairly expensive rums last winter, tried some out to see whether it was worth it. It definitely is worth it to go at least mid-shelf in most things, and sometimes the top shelf doesn’t feel like a waste either.

Vodka neat is kinda horrible, tbh. A good vodka martini with a really smooth vodka, yea. Just vodka, neat? No thanks, can’t do it since that one time I drank a little hand sanitizer (non-denatured) in the army. 'Twas like >73% abv. I was fuuuuuccckeeed, uuupp. Luckily I was an NCO and had independence a bit so I went to the neighbouring barracks (just a firedoor in between them, same building) to use their showers for an hour or so (as the barracks was empty 1/3 of the year).

  • Vana Tallin is for the bougie folk who can’t handle 80% Viru Valge. I was but a youngster when I first encountered a bottle. Friend said you can take a sip if you don’t look at the bottle. I took a few massive gulps, almost half the bottle.

    Then I swallowed.

Man I was surprised. And it didn’t spend that long in me, tbh.

But yeah Vana Tallin is a much more sociable liquor. I’m just Finnish and want my money’s wörth, lol.

  • I bought a Huawei P30pro in 2016. Now I’ve got a Samsung S24 basic model. This is garbage in comparison, despite being almost a decade newer. The camera AI isn’t bad, and the video quality is great, but the optics are just fucking terrible.

My Huawei was actually useful and the I felt the camera was pretty adequate even for niche long term exposure shots that you’d normally definitely want a tripod and an SLR to take. Okay granted the stabilisation on the S24 is probably better for like hand held low light, but everything else is worse.

The Huawei had an optical 10x zoom (and up to 50x with digital but who cares about digital). Very impressive macro photos, I didn’t even need a loop to check the trichomes on my ganja.

Had to sacrifice a soul a little with prolly being on some Chinese spy lists now because of all the Huawei accounts I have but eh, it is what it is.

I was a tiny bit considering maybe getting the Pura 80 Ultra. It’s almost got a 10x zoom again. Idk why they went back on it. Too expensive to make? Honestly in the past 10 years not a lot of phones with that sort of zoom.

  • Yeah, then it devolves into you spamming oneliners.

As in, the conversation I’ve had a billion times. You’re clearly through with discussing the matter, have been for a long time.

But since you’re a pathological contrarian and a (wnb) besserwisser, you can’t stop replying, despite your replies now being repeating “shrimp” lol.

You know how you start remembering people on Lemmy, because the circles are so small?

Yeah, I used to think you were one of the better users here whenever I saw some of your comments, but, clearly not. Utterly childish, and I’ve managed to reduce you to that in a matter of days.

You know why you keep repeating “shrimpy” and nothing else? Because you can’t, help but projecting. You seriously can’t help it (you’re tilted and don’t have control, your ego is taking you for a ride).

And do you know what is kinda strongly coming through here? Feelings of inadequacy. It’s alright that you skipped a word while reading my comment, because everyone makes mistakes.

It’s not alright to pretend like you don’t make mistakes & act like a petulant child, just because someone points out a small mistake you made. Idk what age you really are, but if you ever want any sort of higher ed, you’re gonna need to be able to own up to mistake and work in a group setting.

But you seriously find it impossible to own up to a tiny mistake, to a pseudorandom person online? Ufff. For your sake I hope your still a teenager. It’d be nasty if you were this simple in your adult life, wouldn’t it?

Feel free to try to prove me wrong. ;>
