Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something that you used to consider “cheap” that you can’t afford now?
6·il y a 16 joursMan, everything is a collectable now. I swear I can big some random cheap old tech and in a few years it will be double the price

4·il y a 17 joursI wish car brands would make something like a modern iteration of a Citroen DS or SM or something. Those cars are so cool and simply not something you see anymore
Great phone, kept my S9+ until 2 years ago. Upgraded because the battery was dead. Could’ve replaced it but wanted to switch it out anyways. Couldn’t go back anymore now though, that 60Hz screen is a deal breaker for me now

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Car enthusiasts of lemmy, what is the least reliable engine in your opinion?
7·il y a 1 moisYeah they flood themselves on startup, they are particularly unsuited for short drives
Even if the speakers has been there a million times… The speaker is still a single person, so there will definitely have been more people in Berlin than only the speaker
I like how dinosaurs are now commonly accepted to have had feathers
I can’t even open WhatsApp without getting spoilers, it is what it is. Although I think this is the first time seeing an F1 post on Lemmy

News@lemmy.world•Trump orders Pentagon to redesign US aircraft carrier to use steam catapults to launch jets
2·il y a 2 moisIs the steam anywhere close to the launch location though? No idea how this shit works but I assume that would need all kinds of piping and valves and in the end it’ll probably less efficient than converting to electricity and using that
A video or channel you can’t find might as well not exists.
Considering the amount of hours I’ve spend on YouTube, they definitely exist

4·il y a 2 moisTraffic congestion will always be a thing. The real world is too unpredictable. You can’t pack a highway full of cars and expect them to drive highway speeds. One animal jumping on the road and you’ll have a massive accident because nobody can avoid anyone
Our cat is also called Felix, although he looks like Felix the cat. I hope he lives to 24 aswell, he is coming up to 16 or 17 (we don’t know for sure) and is still such a happy cat

You should watch “The Pentagon Wars”, a good movie about wasting money

That’s the one thing I don’t like about Truenas. It technically can spin down disks, but there’s no way to force them. You can set the idle timer to 5 minutes, but then it constantly spins them back up again. Now I just power the entire system down with home assistant outside of the usage hours and I can power it up again with home assistant using wake on Lan.
A bit goofy, but it works for me
