A paper owned by Republican devotee billionaire with their own AI company and an army of developers with ample digital media experience, Jeff Bezos. Even if Bezos was not directly involved in creating a deep fake, it’s not unreasonable to suspect that he provided an advanced copy of that page of the paper for others to do whatever they wanted. 🤔

People often mistake freedom of speach / expression to mean they can say anything they want without reprocutions while ignoring laws that already exist to set restrictions (perjury, libel/slander, obscenity, etc).
The rights of one person stops when it infringes on the rights of another. If a person’s speach or actions is determined to be producing harm then there should be consequences.
Freedom of speach does not mean freedom from being responsible for that speach.
It’s like asking a hoarder what they plan to do with all of those <insert item here>.
It’s a mental illness but instead of recognizing it as such, calling it out and getting them treatment, society celebrates them and says they are doing everything that everybody else should strive for.

It used to be that new stocks with a high enough value had to wait several months to a year before they could be included into index funds (index funds are collections of stocks that try to mirror the performance of certain markets). Recent rule changes removed that waiting period so some (maybe even most, though not all) index funds bought SpaceX, automatically, within days of it coming on the market because that’s just how they work. So if SpaceX tanks, many retirement plans will take a hit.
