  • Seconding Zomboid and also throwing Stationeers onto the pile. Both of these games have been in Early Access for years, much longer than most games take to make. But these two are not your average games. We’re talking thousands of hours of playtime between them. More depth than you can shake a stick at, in both games.

Zomboid is the most detailed and realistic Zombie Apocalypse game you’ve ever seen. Keep your survivor character fed, clothed, warm and happy. Build thousands of objects in your base including barracades for doors and windows, entire walls. You can go in the woods and chop down trees and make your own house from scratch. And then there’s the zombies! Crazy good game.

Stationeers is kind of a mix between base building in Space Engineers and Dwarf Fortress. It’s gonna make you wish you had a chemistry degree. Atmospherics are extremely detailed. Your character also has the usual needs like food and water but also they recently introduced the need to have a bathroom. No longer does your video game character inhale huge quantities of food and drink that just disappears into a void. Now you get polluted water! Oh, not that glamorous I guess.

  • I’m pretty stressed out about the situation I’m in. It’s a long story but I’ll try to sum it up. I’m more or less working 2 full time jobs right now along with all the stuff that comes with being a home owner and partner to another person.

One job is “normal”. And boring, so I hate every second of it. Other job is my dream but isn’t currently paying the bills very well. It could, if I could quit the first job and focused on only the second but money won’t ramp up immediately.

I’m not making enough between the two jobs to build up a buffer. Quitting the first job is the best path but it will also come with upsetting my partner for a period of time until the second job ramps up.

I’m so annoyed about how expensive it is to live. None of us signed up for this!

  • Seconding Hinge as the best one of the bunch. For all of them, it really depends on where you are. In my area, for example, Tinder is just everyone. It has the biggest pool of people on it by far.

I matched with my fiancee on Hinge and Tinder at the same time.

It’s a whole process. I was on the dating apps for several years before I found The One, as they say. But I’m living proof that it can work if you keep trying.

  • I met my fiancee on Hinge and Tinder. We matched on both at the same time. Hinge is probably the better one if you’re looking for something serious but play the field, whatever your attention span will allow for.

Bumble is also a decent one. It has, or at least used to have? I’ve not used it in almost 2 years, a “unique” feature where the woman messages first. Though that usually just ends up being a “Hi” or something even less conversation-starting.

Really depends on what you’re looking for, I guess.

  • This is exactly me. I spend most of my workday on my phone, doom scrolling. There might be an hour of actual work to do on a given day. It’s driving me insane and my neck is really starting to bother me from staring at my phone all day. I’m in the interviewing process for something different, so there’s a light at the end of the tunnel but it’s still pretty dark in here.
