Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•This brilliant campaign from Quebec shows exactly what it takes to get motorists to actually yieldEnglish
10·16 days agoSame in Norway. The moment the walker puts a foot on the crossing they have the right of way.
Remember when at uni a exchange student from Luxembourg and one from Russia was discussing that one big cultural shock for them was how cars stopped at crossings in Norway. I drive quite a lot and its so ingrained in me to watch for walkers and to yield if they want to cross,
I am hopelessly fond of the romantics my self. Thanks for reminding me
I grew up just as the 9-bit nintendo became widley available (and affordable) in Norway in the late 80s/early 90s. And got my first pc (a 486 DX) in 1994. Not a misspent youth, as we had a viciously steep footpath perfect for snow racers and a frozen area for hockey.
Summers were perhaps more misspent
Telling my son we need to go out. Its such a nice day, we can’t spend in front of a screen…

What is an ankle biter?
Even I as a non native speaker of english knew that, and that og conjugates irregularly as it ends in a - v
Mouth to face ratio, and eye to face ratio. It hits a kind of uncanny valley

I spent a season in Whistler 20 years ago, and even though Whistler is “Disney Mountain” I managed to get to know some local residents through Japanese home stay students. Weed was everywhere, granted season skiers and and snowboarders are perhaps not a random selection of the population in that regard.
Mora 2000 is perfect. But I do like my Strømseng Sami knife and my benchmade.
My biggest surprize was a Petzl Spatha folding knife (that have a large hole for attaching rope) made from Sandvik steel
As @Cetan states its usually the metal, but also the material in the grip and the sheath. I have hadde several basic Mora knives with plastic grips and sheaths. Perhaps most satisfied with the Mora 2000, should have gotten the orange one as the green was lost to the forest.
For forest use I can reccomed knife smith Strømeng 8" sami knife with finger guard. (Cant get the 9" with finger guard). Not a nimble knife tho’.

Strømeng does not have English web page https://samekniv.no/
You can buy a perfectly fine and decent Mora knife for 10 USD.
You cannot get a high end Swedish knife for 10 usd.

Another Threma user! With me, my wife and the other one I found on Lemmy we are four!
